"FACES OF IRAN"
|
“The Faces of Iran” exhibit featured large format photos of the Iranian people, cities and architecture. Also represented in the exhibit were interesting facets of the geography, archeology, politics and nuclear program as well as a timeline of history and items of cultural interest. (Organizations interested in using the exhibit should contact steve@daytonpeacemuseum.org).
The exhibit featured photos taken by Museum Director Steve Fryburg, who went to Iran, May 2006, on a cultural exchange with a twenty-four member delegation from the Fellowship of Reconciliation (FOR). The delegation met with hundreds of Iranian citizens as well as clerics and government officials to learn more about Iran and its people.
Recently, Iran has been in the news because of the debate over its nuclear program. The country has been characterized as a member of the administration’s “axis of evil.” The cultural exchanges from FOR and the Peace Museum’s exhibit are attempts to increase citizen understanding of the issues and the cultural complexities of this one-time ally.
The Fellowship of Reconciliation is the oldest interfaith organization dedicated to increasing communication and understanding between countries. The Peace Museum’s exhibit is a must-see for concerned citizens wanting to see beyond the rhetoric and gain insight into the heart and motivations of the Iranian people.

Many Iranians wondered why Iran and the United
States haven't mended there differences so we can be friends.
Iran has a modern complicated society of wonderful people with the same desires
people have worldwide.
They want to raise families, have work, shelter, food, medical care, education,
the chance to make their lives better, and to live in Peace.
There are problems in Iran like in any other country in the world, but the
Iranian people are capable of solving their own problems if the world would
normalize relations with them.
PEACE BEGINS
WITH RESPECT, COMMUNICATION
and UNDERSTANDING.
