Peace 240 Campaign
Give Peace a Voice!

Give peace a voice by creating a culture of peace.
Activities, exhibits and events that focus on peaceful, nonviolent alternatives to violence and conflict fill the Dayton International Peace
Museum. More than 6500 visitors from Japan, China, Europe, Canada and all 50 U.S. states have visited the Peace Museum. Our
unique Abrams/Chatfield Research Library contains more than 1500 volumes.

Give peace a voice by honoring local heroes.
The Museum maintains outstanding permanent and temporary exhibits examining the United Nations and international efforts to
prevent war. Highlighted in our Dayton Room are local peace heroes, like Sr. Dorothy Stang and Martin Sheen. Of course, the
international impact of the Dayton Peace Accords and the vital work of Richard Holbrooke as the key negotiator, are highlighted.

Give peace a voice by teaching our children there are other options.

Offsite we offer Peace-Abilities and School Mediation programs for elementary and secondary students about handling personal
conflicts nonviolently.

Give peace a voice by reaching out to our neighborhoods.
The PeaceMobile houses our “Planting Peace Dayton” mobile exhibit and allows us to travel to neighborhoods to work with families “to
promote peace from the ground up!”

Give peace a voice by respecting our planet and being environmentally aware.

The Green Energy Center, our environmental branch, cities and demonstrates practical and innovative solutions that can be
implemented today for a greener and safer tomorrow.
It is time to acclaim what a true gem the Peace Museum is for the Miami Valley!
Our goal for the Peace 240 Campaign is simple: we need 240 people to each donate $500.

The advantages of this approach are twofold:
It provides opportunities to apply for special grants and acclaims our singular mission to a wider audience.
There are many creative ways to raise $500! One person has asked friends to each give $10. Another is hosting dessert parties. A
third supporter is putting aside $12.50 each week for 40 weeks. Curtailing the purchase of soda and coffee for a year is another way to
raise $500. Another ambitious strategy is to speak to your relatives, faith community, club or neighborhood about the Museum and
!request donations. We have a list of “A Doable Dozen” to give you ideas.

If you love peace and the Peace Museum, Peace 240 is a unique opportunity that will increase its influence and provide necessary
funds. The Dayton International Peace Museum is the only peace museum in the United States! This is our first broad based,
grass roots effort to raise money. We are confident that, with the support of our many friends, we can reach our goal! Achieving this
goal will allow the Peace Museum to qualify for a substantial grant from the Ohio Cultural Facilities Commission.

Time is of the essence!
We must reach our goal by March/2012. Consider the many benefits and civic pride of securing such an essential community
organization right here in Dayton! Your efforts will be joined with hundreds of generous advocates to guarantee the promotion of
alternatives to violence for generations to come! Join us now to make a difference!

Charlotte Paugh <schatzi@bhrcres.org> is our coordinator. She is also a master quilter! She is making a beautiful, professional peace
quilt, entitled “Peace According To:’ for a special appreciation drawing. Each $1000.00 donation earns a ticket for the drawing!
